What drives us to participate in research?
Data, data, and lots more data. The more we can learn about our ecological and social systems, the more informed we can be in making decisions for the future. This is even more important in light of the challenges we will face with climate change.
A lot of the research we do is led by questions raised by the communities we work with at the flaxroots (i.e., ‘on-the-ground’) – why are we not catching as much fish as we used to? What can I do to improve the habitat for our birds? What are the potential effects we might see from climate change in the River? With every situation or challenge highlighted, we then work with our communities to identify collaborators and/or funders to support the research going forward.
You can see more about the current research we are involved in on our ‘projects’ page.
