Dan is a qualified arborist and has experience with all aspects of arboriculture, especially large and dangerous trees. His interests also extend to pruning and care of smaller trees, in particular fruit/orchard and amenity trees and shrubs. He has a strong passion for our native environment and is part of an informal network of arborists and ecologists monitoring the potential risk of Kauri Dieback and other plant disease risks; particularly in the Waikato.
He began his professional career as a chef, working as Junior Sous in the Christchurch Millenium Hotel. After moving to the Waikato, he was head chef at TDO restaurant and bar (Dinsdale, Hamilton), before making the decision to follow his passion for the environment. He worked for Tree Menders as a full-time climber since graduating from WINTEC in 2011, before founding Swampfrog with his wife, Cheri.
